Bluelight Basement Party Does REDDIT!

Join the @Bluelight Basement Party movement as we take our show on the +reddit road to link submission!  reddit is a social news website where users can post links to content on Bluelight Basement Party's subreddit. Other users may then vote the posted links up or down, causing them to appear more or less prominently on the reddit home page. The site has discussion areas where users may discuss the posted links, and vote for or against others' comments.

When there are enough votes against a given comment, it will not be displayed by default, although a reader can display it through a link or preference. Users who submit articles which other users like and subsequently "vote up" receive "karma", points which a user receives as a reward for submitting interesting articles. reddit also includes several topical sections called subreddits, which focus on specific topics, including programming, science, and politics.

Funky Fridays w/ Derrick Goss

Believe it or not, you probably can’t find anyone who doesn’t still enjoy funk music from back in the day like our friend Derrick Goss. Funk jams from the 60s, 70s & 80s are considered by most people to be “old school” music and generally you don’t need to explain the music you will hear.

Now you can tune in for a evening which is a perfect time when people are out and about or enjoying a cookout with friends.

There is no mistaking the popularity of funk music bands from Parliament and Funkadelic, Sly and The Family Stone, Brass Construction, Con Funk Shun, and the Ohio Players to name a few.

There is truly something about funk music that takes us back to a different time in our lives. One things for sure, Blue Light Basement Party's Funky Friday is all the funk, all the time. Just goes to show that funk music lives on!

Thursday Night BLUES

Blues is a vocal and instrumental form of music based on the use of “blue notes.” It emerged in Black communities of the United States from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads. The use of blue notes and the prominence of call-and-response patterns in the music and lyrics are indicative of African influence.

“Blue notes,” also known as “worried notes,” are the typically flattened third, fifth, and seventh degrees in a major scale. This is what gives the blues its inherent minor tonality. From performer to performer, or from blues genre to genre, e.g., country blues, the deviation of the “blue note” from the actual scale can be greater.
